Benedicto Cabrera is a national artist that started out as an average artist eventually through years of gained experience thus is now a known creator of art in the Philippines. His artworks incorporated the theory on social representations. He created numerous art pieces using a wide variety of  artistic expressions. He also used creative self-efficacy and individual creativity. Creative self-efficacy is the individuals belief to successfully perform a particular task involving a creative performance. One of his masterpieces is "Sabel" a street woman. By linking creativity, identity, and other contributing social factors it contributed to creating sabel. By performing creative self-efficacy it definitely helps shape creative behavior among individuals. Another theory applied by the artist is the symbolic interactionism especially through his artworks on Bulol wood carvings. The culture, values, and beliefs of the Ifugao tribe was clearly portrayed in his artworks. This theory states that society is a product of every day social interactions thus people make use of experiences, symbols, signs to aid in making their art pieces. Many times it is used as a source of inspiration because artist also experience art block in which they run out of art ideas. His paintings portray various forms of social representations mainly rural life that includes its culture and ways by observing and interacting with his subjects before creating his art. He opened a museum to gain a shared understanding with the public about his art pieces. He was able to foster discourses that would improve and develop his art pieces. He is one of the recognized artists thus belonging in the promoted creative identities. He draws inspiration through social recognition that further promotes his creative behavior. His artworks are diverse and mediated in structure using multiple resources and associating them with his own to create a unique form of art that caters to the public issues such as poverty, culture, freedom of expression (sensuality), way of life etc.
